British Open Shopping Forum Riding High!

crowd.gifFollowing the successful relocation of the British Open Show Jumping Championships to the NEC earlier this year, organisers, Grandstand Event Management, are reporting a high demand for general admission tickets for the 2008 Show and early sales of exhibition space are at a record level.

The British Open Show Jumping Championships’ relocation from Sheffield Arena to the NEC was heavily influenced by the opportunity to introduce the new Indoor Shopping Forum. The increased space of 4,000sqm in the shopping area now accommodates the event’s unprecedented demand for exhibitor space.

The venue’s central location, in particular, has made the British Open easily accessible to visitors across the UK and the increased seating capacity of 8,000 has met the rising public demand.

The professionally planned layout features a welcoming main show entrance channelling visitors directly into the Shopping Forum upon arrival, maximising exposure and footfall for all retailers. Excellent logistics and extensive on-site facilities include catering, adjacent parking for easy re-stocking from vehicles and further space for on site living. More intervals in the daily timetable of events have also been introduced for the 2008 British Open to ensure greater opportunity for visitors to shop. There is also a dedicated collection point for shoppers to leave bulky purchases while they enjoy the Show

25,000 visitors are expected to attend this four day equestrian feast comprising an action-packed programme of equestrian competition and entertainment. Alongside top international show jumping, featuring leading British and foreign riders, the 2008 Championships will host an additional Indoor Cross Country competition. This unique format now features during both Friday Evening and Saturday Afternoon’s performances attracting some of the world’s best eventers. In addition, The British Open also boasts a broad spectrum of equestrian entertainment such as the thrilling Scurry Racing, the UK’s highest goal Arena Polo competition, high speed Barrel Racing and a graceful freestyle to music Dressage Display. Headlining the entertainment this year is movie stuntman, Daniel Naprous, and his team, who will demonstrate their daredevil tricks and aerobatics as well as a unique, choreographed equestrian drama created specially for the Show.

Limited spaces for new exhibitors are still available. Trade stand prices start at £740 +VAT (£185 per square metre). For more information please contact the Exhibitions Department on 0870 777 4567 or email exhibitions@britishopenshowjumping.com
