Mark Wein, Director of the organisers of the British Open, Grandstand Event Management, commented: “Staging the British Open at the NEC has proved very successful. We have received tremendously positive feedback from both riders and public. The Show’s unique layout proved a hit with everyone. Despite the unusual hot weather for this time of year, we experienced good audience numbers with near-capacity crowds on the opening day. The Show was topped off with a great final round which saw Jessica Kürten become the first lady rider to be crowned British Open Champion. The stage has already been set for the 2008 Championship with Jessica confirming that she will be back to defend her title. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our officials and the Grandstand Event Management Team for all their hard work in helping to deliver such a fantastic event.”
Next year’s dates: 3rd – 6th April 2008 at Birmingham’s NEC
